A multifaceted partnership spanning print, digital and events anchored around a premium periodical on design
Kohler Co. is one of the world’s leading providers of kitchen and bathroom products, among other offerings. The company is continually looking for new ways to engage with its core designer customers.
Our relationship began with the company advertising in Design Anthology magazine in order to stay front-of-mind with their global audience of designers and product specifiers.
In 2017, Kohler leveraged our relationship with this audience via events: we act as a media partner for the Kohler Design Forums, the Kohler Design Escape and the Kohler Bold Design Awards; our scope includes promotion, securing of key guest designers and hosting of talks. During the COVID-19 outbreak, we partnered with Kohler on a series of online-only talks with designers to help continue their engagement during this period of restrictions.
In 2018, Kohler engaged us to create its annual print magazine; the company had produced one issue already but was dissatisfied with the result. Fifth Black redesigned the magazine to be more on-brand, and we continue to create design-centric content for a similar audience to Design Anthology. In 2020, we expanded this to include stories for the Kohler Designful blog.
Results
Fifth Black provides a strongly integrated brand solution to Kohler. We present Kohler content under the Design Anthology brand, create bespoke content under the Kohler brand and co-present content under both brands, creating a synergistic relationship that benefits both parties.
